Iori: The proposal documents for the new corner, “OURS! A Field Guide to Japan’s Famous Spots,” say that it’ll focus on reporting famous places all around the country.
Tenn: They want young people to watch the news, too, so it seems that they’ll be using popular idols and TV personalities.
Ryuunosuke: Popular idols, huh. I’m so happy they decided to use us!
Tenn: It just goes to show that the efforts we’ve been piling up all this time have been reaching someone. That includes the staff that we’ve worked with in the past, too.
Ryuunosuke: Right!
Tenn: Haha, someone’s excited.
Ryuunosuke: Of course I am! I watch “NEWS bnOURS!” every morning, after all. I was looking forward to this to begin with.
Ryuunosuke: Did you two know? The “OURS” in the program title comes from both “ours” and “hours.” It’s supposed to mean both “something that belongs to us” and “time” - so, “our news.”
Tenn: So it has a double meaning? I never thought that much of the title while watching before, but that’s interesting.
Iori: I also watch before I leave for school.
Ryuunosuke: You, too, Iori-kun?
Ryuunosuke: I really like the corner in it called “The Kitty of the Morning”! Seeing little kittens playing together really gives you the energy to face the day!
Iori: …Oh, yes, I guess there was a corner like that.

Ryuunosuke: Oh, do you watch it, too, Tenn?!
Tenn: Not really. It just happened to be on when I turned the TV on once…

Iori: Actually, I’d prefer it if you stay as you are now, Tsunashi-san.
Iori: I’m also quite familiar with history, so it would be helpful for us to have one person to serve as the listener. It wouldn’t be very balanced if we were all taking on the explainer role.

Iori: Hello, this is IDOLiSH7’s Izumi Iori. Today, I’m here at Hanabuki Castle with two members of TRIGGER.
Tenn: Hello, I’m TRIGGER’s Kujou Tenn.
Ryuunosuke: And I’m TRIGGER’s Tsunashi Ryuunosuke. Please treat us well today.
Iori: “OURS! A Field Guide to Japan’s Famous Spots” is a new corner wherein we’ll be introducing popular and famous places to visit to you all before you start your day.
Tenn: It’s nerve wracking to be the first group on this new corner, but I’m looking forward to working hard as a trio today.
Iori: I will be handling our introduction to Hanabuki Castle.
Iori: Please look over there. The sakura trees are blooming beautifully all the way up to the castle’s tower.
Iori: When one thinks of Hanabuki Castle, they’re sure to think of the sakura in the springtime. Can you see the sakura-shaped pattern decorating the onigawara* above the castle gate?
Iori: This pattern is unique to Hanabuki Castle. We can suppose that the lord of the castle had quite an emotional attachment to sakura flowers.
Ryuunosuke: Oh, is it that pattern?
Iori: Hanabuki Castle is an example of a yamajiro, or mountain castle. This means that it was constructed while taking advantage of the natural mountains. The yamajiro served as a natural fortification that kept enemies away.
Iori: The yamajiro was a common type of castle in the middle ages. While it had the advantage of being hard for enemies to attack, it also had the disadvantage of the difficulty of transporting materials to it. Therefore, it seems that a manor house was built at the foot of the mountain, and that was where its inhabitant would live during times of peace.
Iori: There were many other kinds of castles throughout the Sengoku Period as well. One example is the hirayamajiro, which was constructed on top of mountains or hills that stood within plains. Another is the mizushiro, which was built facing the sea or rivers, and the–
Staff: Iori-kun, hold on a second!
Iori: Yes?
Staff: Ummm, I think you’re acting…a bit too stiff?
Iori: Was my explanation difficult to understand?
Staff: No, it was very informative and easy to understand! But, how should I put this… you sound like a textbook. It’d be helpful if you could make it a bit easier for young people to get into it, too.
Iori: …Young people?
Ryuunosuke: It’s the morning news, after all. It might be better to be a bit more casual.
Iori: …Yes, you’re right.
Staff: All right, then. Sorry about this, Iori-kun, but we’re starting over from the top!
Iori: As far as I’m concerned, I was already talking in a way that would be easy for the viewers to understand…
Iori: We asked to handle this corner to attract a younger audience, so just explaining isn’t the program’s true purpose.
Iori: I have to rethink the way I’m doing this…
Ryuunosuke: …Oh!
Iori: ?
Ryuunosuke: Hey, Iori-kun. What do you think that stuff on the wall is?
Ryuunosuke: There are a bunch of holes in the wall, right? They’re different shapes, like circles or triangles or squares. I was wondering if it was just a pattern or not.
Iori: Oh… Those are loopholes.
Iori: Firearms and arrows were shot through those holes at the castle’s enemies. The holes get bigger on the side that the attacks come through, so the enemies could barely see the soldiers shooting from the other side.
Ryuunosuke: You’re right! You can barely see through to the other side of the wall from here.
Iori: They apparently split up the troops into squads according to the shape of the holes, so it was easy for the soldiers to get to their posts quickly.
Ryuunosuke: So there was a Circle Squad and a Triangle Squad? That sounds kind of cute.
Tenn: This is Hanabuki Castle, so I wonder if there were sakura-shaped holes, too.
Iori: I doubt it. They didn’t have any reason to go to all the trouble of cutting a hole into the wall in the shape of a sakura petal.
Iori: And I’m sure that would be hard to shoot through, too.
Tenn: Then why don’t we make it a competition? If we can find one, then it’s my win.
Ryuunosuke: I’ll also bet that there are sakura-shaped holes!
Iori: Why don’t you go ahead, then? I’m certain that you’re wrong!
Tenn: Remember that you said that. Let’s all look for one, then!
Ryuunosuke: Okay… Go!
Staff: All right, we’re all good! Everyone break for now.
Iori: Phew…
Ryuunosuke: Good work, Iori-kun.
Iori: I’m sorry for making you cover for me just now.
Ryuunosuke: I should apologize, too. I was so interested in your explanation that I forgot about being a responsive listener.
Iori: Tsunashi-san…
Ryuunosuke: Do you think I was able to make up for that?

Ryuunosuke: And you seemed so lively while we were looking at the loopholes, Iori-kun! I had heard that you knew a lot about history before, but now I really know how much you like it.
Iori: …Do you really think so? I had never thought of it that way myself.

Iori: Well, I certainly don’t hate history.
Iori: This building is several hundred years old, but it was built in such a systematic way. The designs of things like the loopholes all follow some kind of logic – it’s interesting.
Ryuunosuke: I get it. That’s just like you, Iori-kun.
Iori: And all of those designs serve the purpose of granting their designer’s wish.
Tenn: Their wish?
Iori: Whether it be to protect their land, or to expand their territory… Everyone had their own motivations, but when it comes to things like castles and their history, there were as many wishes then as there were people.
Iori: Desires too fervent to even be described as “wishes” surely existed right where we stand.
Iori: They had something that they wanted to accomplish, no matter the cost. I can understand that kind of passion very well.
Tenn: …Uh-huh.
Tenn: You don’t let it show on your face, so it’s hard to tell, but you’re actually quite a hot-blooded guy, huh?
Tenn: When we had a look at the castle earlier, you were looking super closely and carefully at all the tiles and floorboards, weren’t you?
Tenn: I guess you’re able to notice such small details because you like this stuff so passionately.
Ryuunosuke: Oh yeah, he was doing that…
Ryuunosuke: He noticed all the decorations and gimmicks, and told us about them! I was so impressed!

Riku: …He fell asleep.
Iori: It’s because you forced him to wake up. Yotsuba-san is busy, too, you know.

Translator’s Notes:
The castle that they visit in this Rabbit TV is not actually one that exists in real life.
The newscaster job that Iori mentions having before was in his Job Experience Rabbichat.
*An onigawara, literally “oni tile,” is a decorative roof-tile found in historical Japanese architecture. As the name implies, they usually depict fierce beasts like oni, but even examples without any face depicted are still called onigawara. So it’s easy to imagine that the onigawara that Iori points out is decorated with just the shape of sakura petals.
I think Iori probably explained the other castle stuff well enough lol.
**Iori says 銃刀法, an abbreviation of 銃砲刀剣類所持等取締法, or the Firearm and Sword Possession Control Law. This law, enacted in 1958, consists of safety regulations related to the possession, use, sale, etc., of firearms and swords in Japan.
Tamaki says ペラペラ/perapera, as in fluent (like in a language), and Riku corrects him to スラスラ/surasura, as in smoothly or easily. I just went with otherwise unrelated rhymes, but I feel the need to point out that the two words in Japanese also have somewhat similar meanings, which was also part of Tamaki’s confusion here. And I like when Riku shows off his vocabulary, so it felt like a waste to just turn it into a rhyme… He loves to read, so he knows his stuff!

Tsumugi: Hanabuki Castle is especially beautiful during the spring. Do you like it, Iori-san?
Iori: Rather than just Hanabuki, I would say that I like all castles?
Tsumugi: All castles?
Iori: I would guess that I’m more familiar with them than most people. If I was asked to name 100 Japanese castles, I would be able to, after all.
Tsumugi: Th-That’s amazing…!
Tsumugi: This report is a perfect fit for you then, Iori-san!
Iori: I suppose so. I don’t think I’ll have any trouble explaining it.
Tsumugi: I’m excited to see you do that!
Iori: Look forward to it. I’ll make sure to prepare well, so that the program ends up the best it can be.
Episode 2: Iori's Report
Iori, Tenn, & Ryuunosuke: “OURS! A Field Guide to Japan’s Famous Spots”!!

Iori: Hello, this is IDOLiSH7’s Izumi Iori. Today, I’m here at Hanabuki Castle with two members of TRIGGER.
Tenn: Hello, I’m TRIGGER’s Kujou Tenn.
Ryuunosuke: And I’m TRIGGER’s Tsunashi Ryuunosuke. Please treat us well today.
Iori: “OURS! A Field Guide to Japan’s Famous Spots” is a new corner wherein we’ll be introducing popular and famous places to visit to you all before you start your day.
Tenn: It’s nerve wracking to be the first group on this new corner, but I’m looking forward to working hard as a trio today.
Iori: I will be handling our introduction to Hanabuki Castle.
Iori: Please look over there. The sakura trees are blooming beautifully all the way up to the castle’s tower.
Iori: When one thinks of Hanabuki Castle, they’re sure to think of the sakura in the springtime. Can you see the sakura-shaped pattern decorating the onigawara* above the castle gate?
Iori: This pattern is unique to Hanabuki Castle. We can suppose that the lord of the castle had quite an emotional attachment to sakura flowers.
Ryuunosuke: Oh, is it that pattern?
Iori: Hanabuki Castle is an example of a yamajiro, or mountain castle. This means that it was constructed while taking advantage of the natural mountains. The yamajiro served as a natural fortification that kept enemies away.
Iori: The yamajiro was a common type of castle in the middle ages. While it had the advantage of being hard for enemies to attack, it also had the disadvantage of the difficulty of transporting materials to it. Therefore, it seems that a manor house was built at the foot of the mountain, and that was where its inhabitant would live during times of peace.
Iori: There were many other kinds of castles throughout the Sengoku Period as well. One example is the hirayamajiro, which was constructed on top of mountains or hills that stood within plains. Another is the mizushiro, which was built facing the sea or rivers, and the–
Staff: Iori-kun, hold on a second!
Iori: Yes?
Staff: Ummm, I think you’re acting…a bit too stiff?
Iori: Was my explanation difficult to understand?
Staff: No, it was very informative and easy to understand! But, how should I put this… you sound like a textbook. It’d be helpful if you could make it a bit easier for young people to get into it, too.
Iori: …Young people?
Ryuunosuke: It’s the morning news, after all. It might be better to be a bit more casual.
Iori: …Yes, you’re right.
Staff: All right, then. Sorry about this, Iori-kun, but we’re starting over from the top!
Iori: As far as I’m concerned, I was already talking in a way that would be easy for the viewers to understand…
Iori: We asked to handle this corner to attract a younger audience, so just explaining isn’t the program’s true purpose.
Iori: I have to rethink the way I’m doing this…
Ryuunosuke: …Oh!
Iori: ?
Ryuunosuke: Hey, Iori-kun. What do you think that stuff on the wall is?
Ryuunosuke: There are a bunch of holes in the wall, right? They’re different shapes, like circles or triangles or squares. I was wondering if it was just a pattern or not.
Iori: Oh… Those are loopholes.
Iori: Firearms and arrows were shot through those holes at the castle’s enemies. The holes get bigger on the side that the attacks come through, so the enemies could barely see the soldiers shooting from the other side.
Ryuunosuke: You’re right! You can barely see through to the other side of the wall from here.
Iori: They apparently split up the troops into squads according to the shape of the holes, so it was easy for the soldiers to get to their posts quickly.
Ryuunosuke: So there was a Circle Squad and a Triangle Squad? That sounds kind of cute.
Tenn: This is Hanabuki Castle, so I wonder if there were sakura-shaped holes, too.
Iori: I doubt it. They didn’t have any reason to go to all the trouble of cutting a hole into the wall in the shape of a sakura petal.
Iori: And I’m sure that would be hard to shoot through, too.
Tenn: Then why don’t we make it a competition? If we can find one, then it’s my win.
Ryuunosuke: I’ll also bet that there are sakura-shaped holes!
Iori: Why don’t you go ahead, then? I’m certain that you’re wrong!
Tenn: Remember that you said that. Let’s all look for one, then!
Ryuunosuke: Okay… Go!
Staff: All right, we’re all good! Everyone break for now.
Iori: Phew…
Ryuunosuke: Good work, Iori-kun.
Iori: I’m sorry for making you cover for me just now.
Ryuunosuke: I should apologize, too. I was so interested in your explanation that I forgot about being a responsive listener.
Iori: Tsunashi-san…
Ryuunosuke: Do you think I was able to make up for that?
Iori: You did much more than that. You were a huge help. Thank you.
Ryuunosuke: Glad to hear it.
Iori: Thank you, too, Kujou-san. Your quick-wittedness helped us film a fun corner.
Tenn: I didn’t do anything to deserve your thanks. There wasn’t a sakura-shaped hole anywhere, after all.
Tenn: But what you said about the loopholes was pretty interesting. I had done a little research on them myself, too, but I didn’t know as much as you do.
Ryuunosuke: And you seemed so lively while we were looking at the loopholes, Iori-kun! I had heard that you knew a lot about history before, but now I really know how much you like it.
Iori: …Do you really think so? I had never thought of it that way myself.
Iori: …
Iori: Well, I certainly don’t hate history.
Iori: This building is several hundred years old, but it was built in such a systematic way. The designs of things like the loopholes all follow some kind of logic – it’s interesting.
Ryuunosuke: I get it. That’s just like you, Iori-kun.
Iori: And all of those designs serve the purpose of granting their designer’s wish.
Tenn: Their wish?
Iori: Whether it be to protect their land, or to expand their territory… Everyone had their own motivations, but when it comes to things like castles and their history, there were as many wishes then as there were people.
Iori: Desires too fervent to even be described as “wishes” surely existed right where we stand.
Iori: They had something that they wanted to accomplish, no matter the cost. I can understand that kind of passion very well.
Tenn: …Uh-huh.
Tenn: You don’t let it show on your face, so it’s hard to tell, but you’re actually quite a hot-blooded guy, huh?
Tenn: When we had a look at the castle earlier, you were looking super closely and carefully at all the tiles and floorboards, weren’t you?
Tenn: I guess you’re able to notice such small details because you like this stuff so passionately.
Ryuunosuke: Oh yeah, he was doing that…
Ryuunosuke: He noticed all the decorations and gimmicks, and told us about them! I was so impressed!
Ryuunosuke: It’s thanks to Iori-kun’s careful explanations that our report is turning out to be so believable.
Iori: …That’s not true.
Iori: Our report is going so well because Kujou-san and Tsunashi-san assisted me so much.
Iori: I knew what the staff wanted from me today. But I still couldn’t change my approach.
Iori: ……
Ryuunosuke: Iori-kun?
Staff: Filming will be restarting soon!
Iori: …And as you can see, Hanabuki Castle is filled with beauty during the spring, but its history is largely unknown.
Iori: Facts such as who the lord of the castle was are not recorded in any historical records of this area.

Episode 3: The Trio’s Atmosphere
Riku: Hey! Tamaki, wake up!
Tamaki: Uuugh… I’m still tired.
Riku: It’s already morning! Waaaaaake uuuuuup Taaaamaaaakiiiii!
Iori: …What are you yelling about at this time in the morning? You’re both too loud.
Riku: Oh, good morning! I knew you’d be awake, too, Iori.
Iori: You knew?
Riku: Today’s the day your news corner airs, right? This is our only chance to watch it right away with everybody!
Iori: It’s not “my” news corner, and only three members of “everybody” are here right now.
Riku: Well, don’t worry about the little details. I think everyone else left for work earlier this morning anyway.
Riku: And you’re turning the TV on to “bnOURS!” right away, too.
Iori: It’s a program that I appeared on. I have to take a look at it.
Tamaki: …Rikkun, lend me your lap.
Riku: Huh? Oh! Tamaki!!
Tamaki: *snoooore…*
Riku: …He fell asleep.
Iori: It’s because you forced him to wake up. Yotsuba-san is busy, too, you know.
Riku: Yeah…
Iori: And so are you.
Riku: Me?
Iori: It may only be for half of the day, but you’re off for once today, aren’t you? You could have spent this time resting.
Riku: I know, but I wanted to watch this.
Iori: …You wanted to watch the program that I’m in?
Riku: You were filming with Tenn-nii, right? I heard that you did a report on the flowers at a castle… I wish I could’ve gone, too.
Iori: ……
Iori: I see. So you just want to see Tenn-nii-san.
Riku: Th-That’s not true! You’re not just a side-dish to me, Iori!
Iori: …Do you realize how unbelievable you’re making yourself sound by saying that?
Riku: But I mean it!
Iori, Tenn, & Ryuunosuke on the TV: “OURS! A Field Guide to Japan’s Famous Spots”!!
Iori: Quiet, please. It’s starting.
Riku: Oh, i-it is!
Riku: Wooow… The sakura are so pretty! I didn’t know Hanabuki Castle was this beautiful.
Tamaki: Oooooh… Cool!
Riku: Ah, Tamaki’s awake.
Iori: …He’s totally alert now. His eyes are sparkling like he’s a little kid.
Tamaki: Did they seriously shoot guns and stuff through those holes in the wall? That’s just like ninjas!
Tamaki: Did you shoot something through one, Iorin? Can I do it too if I go there?
Iori: You can’t. All the weapons there have been removed under the Firearm and Sword Law**.
Tamaki: Well, I knew that.
Tamaki: Anyway, the castle is so huge.
Iori: ……
Iori: They’re both such honest people.
Iori: For this job, I thought about the goals of the corner and tried to report things in my own way, but I lost sight of what to do to convey that to the audience.
Iori: I was able to overcome that challenge thanks to Kujou-san and Tsunashi-san. But, if it were these two…
Iori: If it were Yotsuba-san or Nanase-san, I’m sure they wouldn’t have to think about anything, and would be able to do it naturally right away.
Iori: That’s no easy feat for me…
Riku: Ahhh! That was so interesting!
Tamaki: Huh? It’s done already? I wanted to see more of the ninja castle.
Riku: It’s not a ninja castle, it’s Hanabuki Castle!
Riku: Tenn-nii was so cool…
Tamaki: What about Ryuu-aniki?
Riku: Tsunashi-san was cool, too!
Riku: And so was Iori!
Iori: Huh?
Riku: You really are amazing, Iori.
Riku: You really know everything. And you know how to summarize it in a way that’s super easy to understand.
Tamaki: Right? We could never do that. We can’t talk all soothe like you.
Riku: Do you mean "smooth"?
Tamaki: Same thing, right?
Riku: Not really…
Tamaki: Anyway, I just realized this while we were watching the news just now.
Tamaki: Iorin, is kinda, like…castle-ish, right?
Iori: What?
Iori: Like a castle? I am?
Riku: Oh, I totally get what you mean!
Tamaki: Right?
Riku: I don’t really know how to say this, but if IDOLiSH7 lived in a castle, that castle would be Iori.
Riku: Thanks to Iori being solid like a castle, the rest of us can move freely.
Riku: Basically, we’re all thankful to have Iori around!
Iori: …Wh-What are you saying so suddenly?
Iori: You’re certainly praising me a lot now, Nanase-san, despite treating me like a side-dish earlier.
Riku: I told you that was a misunderstanding!
Riku: It’s true that I want to go see the flowers with Tenn-nii, but if you weren’t there with me too then, I’d be upset about it.
Riku: So, I was really excited for “bnOURS!” today!
Iori: ……
Iori: Heh heh.
Riku: …Iori?
Tamaki: Iorin’s laughing.
Iori: It’s nothing. Watching you two just made me realize that I was thinking about something stupid.
Riku: S-Stupid?!
Iori: The seven of us are IDOLiSH7 together. I can do things that you two can’t do.
Tamaki: …What’s that supposed to mean?
Riku: Are you trying to pick a fight?
Iori: No, I’m not.
Iori: I’m saying that I can’t compare to you.

Translator’s Notes:
The castle that they visit in this Rabbit TV is not actually one that exists in real life.
The newscaster job that Iori mentions having before was in his Job Experience Rabbichat.
*An onigawara, literally “oni tile,” is a decorative roof-tile found in historical Japanese architecture. As the name implies, they usually depict fierce beasts like oni, but even examples without any face depicted are still called onigawara. So it’s easy to imagine that the onigawara that Iori points out is decorated with just the shape of sakura petals.
I think Iori probably explained the other castle stuff well enough lol.
**Iori says 銃刀法, an abbreviation of 銃砲刀剣類所持等取締法, or the Firearm and Sword Possession Control Law. This law, enacted in 1958, consists of safety regulations related to the possession, use, sale, etc., of firearms and swords in Japan.
Tamaki says ペラペラ/perapera, as in fluent (like in a language), and Riku corrects him to スラスラ/surasura, as in smoothly or easily. I just went with otherwise unrelated rhymes, but I feel the need to point out that the two words in Japanese also have somewhat similar meanings, which was also part of Tamaki’s confusion here. And I like when Riku shows off his vocabulary, so it felt like a waste to just turn it into a rhyme… He loves to read, so he knows his stuff!
